‘In 2022, Sam was involved in the initial trial of Executive Coaching for Pertemps Group, the UK’s largest recruitment company, which was successful and Sam has since coached over 50 of Pertemps’ Leadership team – from Board level, Directors, Commercial Managers, Area and Regional Managers through to Branch Managers too.
Across 2023, Sam also worked with Pertemps’ Learning and Development Director, Andy long and Managing Director, Lisa Thurkettle to produce a series of linked workshops to train Pertemps’ Managers, at all levels, to add a coaching approach to their management style and to build a toolkit of leadership techniques to be used to increase employee engagement. Designed to improve Managers’ ability to delegate as well as their capability to develop talent.
For some Managers this meant moving away from a more traditional tell approach to a style of asking more questions and coaching their teams; a style more favoured by Millennials and Generation Z, who will make up more of the workforce than ever before.
Understanding more about motivation, communication preferences and how to create psychological safety has enabled Pertemps to benefit from increased employee satisfaction, reducing regretted losses and creating teams who are better at self-managing, decision making and more resilient to change.
These ‘Creating a Coaching Culture’ workshops were rolled out to all branches, Contracts division, their Head Office team and the Pertemps Network Group over a 2 year duration, so training over 250 Pertemps’ manager to incorporate a coaching skillset to the management style, with more planned as Sam continues to support Pertemps.
